Tan Booty Brush with a long curved handle and brush head

Soft vs. Medium Booty Brush: Which Bristles Should You Choose?

Choosing between a soft and medium Booty Brush starts with the feel you prefer. If you want the gentler option or are unsure where to begin, consider Soft. If you already enjoy a firmer brush feel, consider Medium. Neither choice is a reason to press harder or keep brushing an uncomfortable area.

Soft vs. medium: a quick comparison

Choosing your Booty Brush bristle option
Option Consider it when Keep in mind
Soft You prefer a softer brushing feel or are choosing your first brush. Soft bristles still require a light touch; they do not guarantee irritation-free use.
Medium You prefer a firmer feel and already find brushing comfortable. A firmer feel is a preference, not proof of a better clean.
Neither, for now Your skin is already irritated, injured, or uncomfortable with brushing. Pause brushing and seek advice if you are unsure what your skin can tolerate.

What stays the same when you choose a softness?

The current Booty Brush product listing offers Soft and Medium bristles, with Tan and Black color choices. Booty Brush has an 18-inch curved handle and an all-around grip. Select the bristle option separately from the color; color alone should not be your guide to firmness.

Softness and reach solve different questions. Bristles determine the feel you choose, while the handle needs to be manageable at the angle you use. If reach is your main concern, read our long-handled bath brush buying guide.

If your skin is sensitive, a soft brush is not automatically the answer

The American Academy of Dermatology's exfoliation guidance explains that mechanical exfoliation can be too irritating for dry or sensitive skin. It recommends short, light strokes when using a brush and avoiding exfoliation over open cuts, wounds, or sunburn.

If brushing does not agree with your skin, you do not need to work up to Medium—or keep using Soft. Ask a dermatologist if you are unsure whether a brush belongs in your routine.

Check comfort and control before a longer wash

  1. Check the reach first. Before turning on the shower, hold the brush and gently try the movement you need. Do not force a stretch to make the handle reach.
  2. Start lightly. For external shower use, wet the brush and begin with a few short, gentle strokes on intact outer body skin. Never insert the brush into the body.
  3. Notice the feel. Pause if brushing stings, scratches, or feels uncomfortable. Do not add pressure to compensate for an awkward angle.
  4. Recheck your grip. If the handle is hard to guide, stop and reposition. Our bath brush grip guide covers handling considerations; a textured grip does not make a wet handle impossible to drop.

This brief check helps you judge the feel; it cannot guarantee that irritation will not develop later. You also do not need to brush every time you shower.

Before you order

  • Choose by your own comfort, not another person's preference.
  • If buying for someone else, ask whether they like a softer or firmer feel.
  • Confirm the selected bristle option and color in your cart.
  • Plan a place to rinse and air-dry the brush after use, following its care instructions.
